This is a review for the whole series and I gotta say the saving grace of the series is how well Hopeless does characters. I mean the story was average but the characters were really good I felt for a lot of them and liked most all of them try the book at least somehow try to read a bit and feel it.

I appreciate this story.

I appreciate what they're doing. They're being relevant and trendy. Doing something that mainstream and younger kids recognize. (Though they might not get the Battle Royale homage immediately, but eh). Its interesting and worth the buy. Its a fairly new series, which is good and bad. If it does well enough they'll keep going, but it could also get unexpectedly cancelled and all these characters you're way into will never get the closure they need and you wont either.

BUT, this is a great story introducing great side characters (with the exception of a few) as they are manipulated and put to the test by a crazy whack job that just needs friends... in the shape of pills...

Yes, it IS hunger games/battle royale/lord or the flies all that together and anyone who tries to deny it is crazy. It is EXACTLY what you think they're trying to do.. But its 21 superhero kids with super powers, super strength, speed, magic, hearing, everything else you name it.

plus... X-23 and Nico are in it. they're my favs. 3
this is an amazing series so far. ive only got threw this first book but I am really excited to read what's coming up next. get this book.
This volume is a great start to this story! The characters get pulled into the story right away and BAM! they're already faced with tough choices and a death! Loving the style and the story. I really hope this finds a way to stick with the choices and consequences it's starting out with or has some strong and intelligent way to deal with them without a retcon. Definitely recommend.
Read the whole thing on one sitting and cant wait to get the next edition. Can't imagine how it will end.
This reminds me of the Hunger Games. Just a violent fight with young heroes. Would definitely recommend it to anybody!
Book was in good condition
A battle royale or hunger games for the marvel universe with old time villain Arcade as an ideal mastermind. I thought the kid heroes fell into separate alliances a bit too easy but otherwise its a very interesting variation of the concept with a lot of already built in characters that we have an interest in (if you followed the great Avengers Academy or Runaways series). Some of the other characters I'd only heard of vaguely but Hopeless does a good job of filling you in on them. I don't know how long this concept can hold up but I will definitely check out the next volume.
